Ship Ahoy is a youth package that has been specially put together for children aged between 4 and 12 years. Step inside the Portaal van Vlaanderen and embark on a special journey of discovery. Are you a budding lock keeper? Learn how the locks work and get your diploma during the interactive lockkeeper game!
This afternoon you will discover everything about the difference between fresh and salt water and you can view the bone remains of a woolly mammoth that lived here millions of years ago. Imagine a mammoth in Terneuzen! These imposing bones were found during the construction of the equally imposing Nieuwe Sluis. We’ll tell you all about it!
It is also nice that you get to work yourself and learn to make a key ring in the shape of a ship’s knot. You almost look like a real captain! And to let you experience how big the ships are in the locks, you also take a ride through the lock complex! In short; fun and educational go hand in hand at the Portaal in a unique maritime way!
Dates
The dates on which the youth package ‘Schip Ahoy’ takes place are February 22, May 3, July 26, August 9 and 23, October 25. Groups of 10 or more people can also reserve other dates in consultation.

Rates and reservations
The Schip Ahoy youth package costs € 9.50 per child. This includes the train ride over the lock complex. The train ride for adults costs € 7.00 per adult. You can register via info@portaalvanvlaanderen.nl. Please note that the number of participants is limited, so full = full.
