Gateway to Flanders
Ship Ahoy!
The lock complex is the beating heart of maritime Terneuzen. But the surroundings of this special port city are also worth a visit. This arrangement offers water rats and landlubbers the opportunity to look further afield. Be surprised by nature and discover that the water is never far away.
You start this day at the Portaal van Vlaanderen for a tour of the lock complex. Our guide will tell you everything about the locks there and the impressive ships that pass through them everyday. A cup of coffee or tea is included. Afterwards, he will guide you to ’t Zusje in Terneuzen for a nice lunch. There we serve three drinks and you choose two dishes from the tapas menu. Has the great outdoors made you hungry? Then you can always decide to order an extra dish.
After lunch we remain ashore. You start the beautiful route along the Braakman, a former inlet of the Western Scheldt, and the Braakmanbos. Point your compass to the west so that you can ‘moor’ at tea garden ’t Gemeentehuis in Biervliet. Which mode of transport will you choose? You can choose from the e-chopper or e-solex (*). That is guaranteed to be an unforgettable trip. Especially because you will be welcomed in Biervliet with coffee, tea and fresh, homemade apple pie. At the end of the day, you will anchor at ’t Zusje in Terneuzen, undoubtedly with a load of new knowledge and experiences.
