Locks complex tour, cruise and maritime walk

Ship ahoy! Ships used to be greeted with this call. Now we would like to welcome you to Terneuzen, the city that has a long association with the Schelde, the locks and shipping.

Ter Nose (Terneuzen) was already known in the 14th century.

The lock complex is now an important hub for international shipping.

Get on our train and be surprised by our (maritime) stories. Our guides know the maritime history of the city. During a short walk you will get to know the old centre of Terneuzen. You can always come back later, plenty of terraces! On the imposing locks you can see gigantic ships up close. Can you touch them or does it just seem that way? Organising the passage of ships through the locks is a profession in itself. Do you know what is happening? Once on the water you experience the power of wind and weather. Ships are just passing you. You can hear the engines roar and feel the water splash. Do you have sea legs or do you prefer solid ground under your feet?
